Five Parks Dental
Comprehensive Dental Care for the Family

When should my child first visit the dentist?

We recommend that children see the dentist when their first baby tooth appears but no later than age one. While this may seem early to you, it is in line with the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

The reasons for visits at this young age are twofold. First, the sooner we get your child accustomed to the new environment of a dental office, the easier it is for them to happily accept dentistry as part of their lives. At Five Parks Dental, our children’s dentist offers complimentary “happy visits” just for this reason. Each positive experience your little one has with us builds their confidence bit by bit until they feel safe, happy, and secure in our care.

Another purpose of these appointments is to be sure we’re doing everything to keep your child’s baby teeth healthy. They have the important job of holding space for permanent teeth that are already developing in the jaw. A baby tooth that’s lost too soon can lead to other dental problems down the road, such as tooth misalignment.

We love providing children’s dentistry and working with kids’ unique personalities. If it’s time for your little one’s first trip to the dentist, please call our Arvada dental office to schedule an appointment.
